Our world is experiencing something of great magnitude—for most of us, it’s unlike anything we’ve encountered in our lifetimes. And I think it’s safe to say, it’s scary and confusing.
As we all work to process the onslaught of information that is being distributed during this rapidly evolving situation, it is difficult to make decisions about what to do today, much less think about what next week will bring. And yet, despite the confusion, fear, and anxiety, I have noticed something remarkable—a deep sense of unity and a strong sense of community.
We are seeing a unified message from employers, nonprofits, healthcare providers, educators, retail, and family and friends—all focused on the collective safety and well-being of each other. We are learning from one another and supporting one another. We are doing what we in the philanthropy sector do best: we are activating the best part of humanity to solve the world’s biggest problems.
I am proud to lead an extraordinary team that has served this industry for a long time and remember challenging times in history—they remember and have persevered through them. I am proud to serve organizations on the front lines, which are rapidly developing tests for the virus and delivering care for families who are isolated due to immune-compromised illnesses. They are there for their communities, so we are proud to be there for them!
On a practical level, Pursuant is utilizing technology to serve our clients with excellence while simultaneously supporting recommendations from the CDC and WHO on limiting group meetings and events. We know that your constituents depend on you during times like this, and you can depend on us.
We’re also paying close attention to the emerging landscape as it relates to fundraising. While the economic impact will not likely be known for weeks or months, we are pulling together resources to be shared next week. These resources are being informed by Pursuant’s rich analytics and deep history to equip you to make the most sound decisions for your organization.
Finally, while it’s normal for all of us to feel some fear, uncertainty, and anxiety, remember that we’re all professional fundraisers, and we do this for a reason: to make a difference in this world and to help others. During these challenging times, we have an opportunity to inspire and lead our supporters to come together as a community like we never have before to strengthen our ability to deliver on our missions.
Pursuant stands ready to help you in any way we can. Do not hesitate to reach out to us to have a conversation and help you think through your emerging strategy. If you haven’t worked with us before, you’ll find a very humble group of experienced professionals that care about the missions of our clients over anything else.
Most importantly, take care of yourself and your family. The work you do in this industry is important and admirable. We all need to be and stay healthy to do the important work we do.
We’re here when you need us.
