Senior Copywriter

Position Overview

This is a role for a senior copywriter with an agency background, including healthcare/hospital experience, who can create the voice of fundraising projects for a selection of our non-profit clients. Our work encompasses healthcare, foundations, universities, faith, and humanitarian efforts. Pursuant’s fundraising work gets executed across many media, all in the direct marketing space, which typically includes direct mail, email, video, social, web experiences, and more.

In partnership with our Account Management, Digital, Analytics, and Production teams, you’ll be responsible for the copy execution of given projects. On an everyday basis, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the quality of client work against agreed-upon time and budgets. You’ll ensure that creative solutions meet the requirements of the creative brief, and be proficient in communicating how the solutions and ideas solve client business problems and move the work forward.

This position reports directly to our Creative Director. The role is for someone to work out of our Dallas, TX headquarters but remote candidates with an ideal background may be considered.


  • 6+ years direct response copywriting experience working in an advertising or in-house creative agency.
  • A track record in fundraising creative that includes both traditional direct mail as well as email, digital display, and paid social.
  • A strong portfolio of creative and engaging work, ads, conceptual gold, scripts, and strategic rationale.
  • Medical, healthcare and/or hospital copywriting experience highly preferred.
  • A superior eye for strategy, and the ability to handle client nuance and subtleties
  • Self-motivated, a fast learner, good communication skills, comfortable following direction
  • An influencer who sways others with their knowledge and communications ability, and forms strong long-lasting relationships within a team
  • Ability to thrive in a busy team environment and be passionate about creative ideas and achieving results that make a difference.
  • Knowledgeable in graphics and editing platforms such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Invision, & Premiere.
  • Great sense of humor, eager to learn, and patient.

Typical Work Activities May Include:

  • Working closely with other team members to form a productive creative partnership, which mainly includes designers/ art directors, copywriters, production artists, photographers, videographers, web dev., print production, and others.
  • Conducting creative research on projects.
  • Producing content/copy to communicate ideas to the client.
  • We typically work 1 – 3 rounds of revisions on client work.
  • Gaining an understanding of the target audience for the communication.
  • Presenting creative concepts and their creative rationales directly to the account team and clients.
  • Ensuring deadlines are met and working effectively.
  • Provide innovative and breakthrough thinking across all donor touch points.
