Senior Data Analyst

As Senior Data Analyst you’ll work with our strategists, account managers, clients, and data architects to build strong, data-driven, analytical stories for our clients. The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for organizing, aggregating, analyzing, and modeling data to find patterns and key learnings. The role will perform critical analysis of complex data to paint an accurate picture of donor behaviors and giving within specific clients and across all clients to inform Pursuant products and services. In addition, this role will drive innovation in how Pursuant delivers data to its clients by continuing to test new approaches and evolve the overall product offering to the non-profit sector.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, and/or Business with related experience; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years in business systems and data analysis work
  • 3+ years developing key performance indicators, dashboards and executive visualization
  • 3+ years of experience in a data-driven information environment designing and implementing analytic insight systems - ideally in a consumer-facing or consultative environment
  • Industry focus in nonprofit desired
  • Deep experience in data aggregation, manipulation, data modeling and statistical analysis
  • Experience with advanced predictive analytics, machine learning and statistical techniques preferred
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Deep, hands on experience with Business Intelligence reporting tools; Microsoft preferred (e.g., SSRS, SSAS, PowerPivot, PowerView, etc.)
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide actionable recommendations to technology teams based on the analysis
  • Experience in data movement technologies (e.g., ETL, scripts, stored procedures, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and enthusiastic about learning new tools & technologies
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple complex efforts under defined timelines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite including PowerPoint, Visio, Word and Excel

Responsibilities:

Client Work:

  • Partner with Pursuant client team to understand their style and comfort with data and align deliverables to meet them where they are
  • Provide decision support to clients by creating reports, running queries, building predictive models - really doing whatever it takes - to support the analytical needs and deliver with excellence
  • Provide expert advice and education in the usage and interpretation of the data
  • Generate innovative solutions to new and existing problems by approaching them with curiosity and open-mindedness, using existing information to its fullest potential
  • Effectively translate analytical findings into the language of decision-makers; communicate findings effectively supported by visual representations
  • Create dashboards and reports; create analytical frameworks and visualizations for analyses
  • Summarize information and effectively communicate analyses in writing and verbally to our account services team and clients

Innovation and Analytic product development:

  • Perform data mining and data analysis activities to explore a variety of data sets that will identify and drive new client strategies
  • Partner with team members to formulate, implement, test and validate predictive models
  • Understand and work with data in varying degrees of complexity and scale
  • Share knowledge and mentor fellow members of the team by providing constructive feedback and offering pro tips from experience as a data guru
  • Identify data issues and drive improvements in data hygiene
  • Seek out trends in the analytics and business intelligence industry and bring those ideas into Pursuant
