Harvard Business Review’s recent post on the rise of social entrepreneurship in business schools intimates three important considerations for nonprofit leaders.

First, the challenge of social leadership is a complex matter, requiring the need to drive strategic initiatives and balance numerous, often competing priorities. Education is an important component to competent nonprofit leadership.

Second, graduate students are emerging with greater levels of nonprofit, organizational understanding than ever before. Smart nonprofits will take advantage of newly minted social sector MBAs and put them to work on their important challenges.

Third, today’s nonprofit leaders need to raise the bar. Growth requires learning. If you aren’t learning, then all you bring to your organization is the collective experience and understanding you brought to it when you first arrived.  Learning in the workplace demands intentionality–just like going to school. So what are you doing to grow the capabilities of yourself and your team?
